Flambeau Gallier 1 Light Table Lamp - Black & Gold

The Gallier table lamp is built around a sculpted vase shaped base, made from cast resin and steel and finished in black and gold. A tapered drum shade in white fabric sits on top, keeping the overall look clean and giving the coloured base something plain to contrast against.

Black and gold finish

The black and gold combination gives the vase form some depth, with the gold picking out the shape of the base against the black rather than covering it entirely. It's a finish that works in both traditional and more contemporary rooms, and the white shade keeps it from feeling too heavy.

How it works

This is a single light table lamp. It doesn't come with a bulb, so that's something to add to your order separately. Installation is straightforward, though we'd always suggest a qualified electrician if you have any doubts.

Where it works best

The vase shaped base and drum shade suit a fairly classic table lamp spot, a bedside table, console or the end of a sideboard, anywhere that could use a bit of contrast and shape rather than a plain cylindrical lamp. It's intended for indoor use.

The story behind Flambeau

Flambeau's founder, Joe McKearn, secured the licence to produce and market Paul Gruer's lamp designs under the Flambeau name back in 2000, after seeing Gruer's work in a New Orleans design studio. Gruer, previously a fine jewellery designer, had been creating custom lamps and sconces for galleries and interior designers, and that background in sculptural form is still visible in pieces like this Gallier lamp, with its cast resin vase base. Elstead Lighting has manufactured Flambeau's designs under licence for the UK since 2012.
