The chain hung lantern in a deeper bronze finish
Like the wall mounted versions, the Redding Station medium chain lantern draws on old American railroad platform lighting, but here it hangs from a chain rather than fixing flush to a wall, making it suited to porches, porticos and covered entrances with a ceiling or soffit to hang from.
Restoration Bronze finish
The Restoration Bronze finish is a deeper, more even bronze tone than the distressed alternative, giving the lantern a slightly more polished finish while keeping its vintage railroad silhouette. It works well against darker brick, stone or painted timber.
How it works
This lantern doesn't come with a bulb, so you'll need to add one to your order. Made from aluminium with a prismatic glass diffuser designed to withstand outdoor conditions, the collection carries an IP44 rating. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
Hung over a porch, portico or covered seating area, it throws a warm pool of light downward rather than lighting a wall directly. As an IP44 rated fitting it belongs somewhere sheltered, such as a covered porch or entrance, rather than a wall with no overhead protection.
The story behind Feiss
It was 1955 when Murray Feiss set up a small lighting business in the South Bronx, importing European porcelain figurines to wire into lamp bases, with his mother Rose hand sewing every shade. Three generations of family ownership grew that venture into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, taking in chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings along the way, and its design heritage now belongs to Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting the collections to run on 220 to 240V. Redding Station takes both its name and its look from the platform lanterns once used at American railroad stations, recreated here as a chain hung lantern finished in a deeper Restoration Bronze.
