A step up in scale from the small wall lantern

The Redding Station medium wall lantern takes the same railroad platform inspired silhouette as the small version and scales it up, giving a wider spread of light and a more substantial presence on the wall. The shaped aluminium shade and prismatic glass panel are carried through at the larger size, so it reads as a proper feature fitting rather than an accent piece.

Painted Distressed Bronze finish

Finished in Painted Distressed Bronze, it has a deliberately worn, weathered character that works well against brick, stone or painted render, especially on period style properties. Expect some natural variation in the finish from one fitting to the next, as this is part of how the distressed effect is achieved.

How it works

This lantern doesn't come with a bulb, so you'll need to add one to your order. Built from aluminium with prismatic glass panels designed to cope with outdoor conditions, the collection carries an IP44 rating. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

At medium size, it works well either side of a front door, garage, or on a larger porch where the small wall lantern might look underscaled. Its IP44 rating makes it suited to covered outdoor spots such as porches, entrances and porticos rather than fully open, unprotected walls.

The story behind Feiss

There's a distinctly hands on origin to Feiss: in 1955, Murray Feiss began wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases in New York's South Bronx, with his mother, Rose, hand sewing every shade. What started small grew, over three generations of family ownership, into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its output eventually spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and today its heritage sits within Visual Comfort & Co. In the UK and Europe, Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss since 2012, adapting designs such as this Redding Station lantern to 220 to 240V wiring. Redding Station takes its name and its styling directly from the platform lanterns of old American railroad stations, recreated here in a wall lantern sized for a front door or porch.
