A modern geometric lantern for the front door
The Merrill single small wall lantern trades the fussier detailing of a traditional coach lantern for clean, modern geometric lines, paired with cream etched glass that softens the light without hiding it. It is a compact fitting, sized for framing a front door or lighting a side entrance rather than making a huge architectural statement.
Heritage bronze finish
The soft Heritage Bronze finish sits comfortably against both modern render and more traditional brick or stone, giving the fitting a versatile look that does not tie it to one particular house style. The cream etched glass adds a gentle warmth rather than the starker look of clear glass.
How it works
This lantern does not come with a bulb, so you will need to add one when you order. As with all outdoor fittings, we would recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation and makes sure the wall mounting and cable entry are properly weathersealed.
Where it works best
With an IP44 rating, it is built for covered outdoor spots such as porches, canopied entrances and outbuildings, rather than fully open positions exposed directly to driving rain. It is a genuine outdoor wall fitting, equally at home beside a front door, on a porch pillar or flanking a side entrance.
The story behind Feiss
Feiss traces back to 1955, when Murray Feiss started a small lighting business in the South Bronx, wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases finished with shades his mother, Rose, hand sewed. Three generations of family ownership grew that venture into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its range spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, with its heritage now part of Visual Comfort & Co. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss in the UK and Europe, adapting designs like this Merrill lantern to 220 to 240V electrics. Merrill takes a cleaner, more geometric approach to outdoor lighting than many of Feiss's more period influenced ranges.
