A modern geometric lantern for the front door
The Merrill 1 light small wall lantern swaps the ornamentation of a traditional coach lantern for a cleaner, more geometric shape, finished with clear seeded glass that catches and scatters the light. It is a compact fitting, well suited to framing a front door or lighting a side entrance without dominating it.
Black finish
In Black, it has a crisp, contemporary look that suits modern house fronts particularly well, while still sitting comfortably against brick or render. The clear seeded glass keeps things bright without a harsh, unshaded glare.
How it works
This lantern does not come with a bulb, so you will need to add one to your order. We would recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation and ensures the wall mounting and cable entry are properly weathersealed.
Where it works best
With an IP44 rating, it is built for covered outdoor spots such as porches, canopied entrances and outbuildings, rather than fully open positions exposed directly to driving rain. It is a genuine outdoor wall fitting, equally suited beside a front door, on a porch pillar or flanking a side entrance.
The story behind Feiss
Three generations of the same family carried Feiss from a single South Bronx workshop to one of America's most recognisable decorative lighting names, its range eventually taking in chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings. It began in 1955 when Murray Feiss started wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases, finishing each one with a shade his mother Rose sewed by hand. The design heritage now belongs to Visual Comfort & Co., while Elstead Lighting has held the UK and European licence since 2012, adapting the wiring for 220 to 240V systems. Merrill takes a cleaner, more geometric approach to outdoor lighting than many of Feiss's more period influenced collections.
