The story behind Feiss

Every early Feiss lamp left the South Bronx workshop with a shade hand sewn by Rose, mother of founder Murray Feiss, who started the business in 1955 around imported European porcelain figurines wired into lamp bases. Over three generations, that operation grew into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its range eventually covering chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and the design heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss in the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting collections such as Lincolndale for 220 to 240V wiring. Lincolndale itself is a straightforward, understated floor lamp within the range, built around its Astral Bronze finish and linen shade rather than an elaborate design story.
