An industrial edged chandelier built for the kitchen island
The Hobson 3 light island chandelier draws on the utilitarian pendant lighting found in early twentieth century American factories and workshops, updated for the modern kitchen. Three drop pendants share a common bar, each finished with a pivoting fitter that echoes the working hardware behind the design, wrapped in seeded glass that diffuses the light rather than exposing a bare bulb.
Satin nickel finish
Satin Nickel gives this version a cooler, more contemporary edge than the warmer brass alternative, while keeping the same industrial silhouette. It suits kitchens with grey or white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances or concrete worktops, where a slightly softer metal tone works better than a warm gold or bronze.
How it works
The three pendant heads do not come with bulbs, so you will need to add three to your order, choosing a size that fits comfortably inside the seeded glass and pivoting fitter. We would always recommend a qualified electrician wires in a multi drop fitting like this.
Where it works best
Designed as a kitchen island light, it hangs at worktop height over an island or peninsula, and the three individual drops also suit a run over a long dining table. It is an indoor fitting, so kitchens, dining rooms and open plan living areas are its natural home rather than anywhere exposed to the weather.
The story behind Feiss
A single South Bronx workshop, opened by Murray Feiss in 1955 around imported European porcelain figurines and shades hand sewn by his mother Rose, grew across three generations into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its range spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings. That heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co., and Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss in the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting collections including Hobson for 220 to 240V electrical systems. Hobson itself takes its cue directly from the industrial utility lighting of early twentieth century American factories and workshops.
