The story behind Feiss

UK and European customers know Feiss chiefly through Elstead Lighting, which has represented the brand since 2012, adapting collections such as Gibson for 220 to 240V electrics, while the wider Feiss design heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. The name itself dates back to 1955, when Murray Feiss founded a small lighting business in the South Bronx, building lamps around imported European porcelain figurines with shades hand sewn by his mother, Rose. Three generations of family ownership grew that workshop into one of America’s best known decorative lighting names, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings. Gibson itself is a simple, functional floor lamp design, shown here in its swing arm form with a Cambridge Crackle finish and Desert Linen shade.
