The story behind Feiss
Murray Feiss opened his lighting business in the South Bronx in 1955, wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases and turning to his mother, Rose, to hand sew the shades. That family workshop grew across three generations into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, its range eventually spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, and its design heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss in the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting collections such as Gibson for 220 to 240V electrics. Gibson itself is a simple, functional floor lamp design, shown here in its fixed form with a Cambridge Crackle finish and Desert Linen shade.
