The English Bridle single wall lantern brings the collection's countryside character to the smallest scale of the range. A compact, single light lantern with a paned, cage style frame and clear seeded glass, it is built to flank a front door or light a side or garden entrance without dominating the wall around it.

British Bronze or Black finish

This lantern is offered in both British Bronze, a warm aged brown that echoes traditional ironwork, and Black, a crisp matte finish with a more graphic outline. Both share the same paned frame and clear seeded glass, so the choice comes down to whether you want the fitting to blend softly into brick or stone, or stand out clearly against a lighter wall.

How it works

This lantern does not come with a bulb, so you will need to add one when you order. It fixes to the wall via a backplate, and as with all outdoor electrical fittings, we would recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation and makes sure the cable entry and wall fixing are properly weathersealed.

With an IP44 rating, confirmed for this style of fitting across the English Bridle range, it is built for covered outdoor spots such as a porch, canopied entrance or sheltered side door, rather than a fully open wall exposed directly to driving rain. The story behind Feiss

Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has taken on the job of bringing Feiss's American designs to the UK and Europe, converting each one to run safely on 220 to 240V electrical systems. Feiss itself started in 1955, when Murray Feiss set up a small lighting workshop in the South Bronx, wiring imported European porcelain figurines into lamp bases while his mother Rose hand sewed the shades that completed them. Three generations later, that workshop had become one of America's best known decorative lighting names, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, its design heritage now folded into Visual Comfort & Co. English Bridle, the collection this lantern belongs to, draws its own inspiration from the English countryside and the coach lanterns of a traditional stately manor, available in British Bronze or Black to suit both softer and more graphic garden schemes.
