A traditional lamp post for a gateway or driveway
The English Bridle lamp post is the tallest fitting in the collection, a traditional three light post lantern built to stand at a gateway or mark the start of a drive the way a period coach lamp would. Its paned frame and clear seeded glass sit at the top of a full height post, giving it the presence of a proper garden lamp post rather than a low level path light.
British Bronze finish
British Bronze gives the lamp post a warm, aged look befitting a traditional garden centrepiece, the kind of soft brown patina you would expect from a period lamp rather than a new metal post.
How it works
This lamp post takes three bulbs, none of which are included. It is the tallest fitting in the collection, so a secure, level base and properly buried, weatherproofed cabling matter even more than with the shorter pedestals, and we would strongly recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the full installation.
Where it works best
With an IP44 rating, confirmed for this style of fitting across the English Bridle range, it is built for open outdoor positions and is the obvious choice where you want a genuine lamp post rather than a wall light, marking a gateway, driveway entrance or the front of a period style garden.
The story behind Feiss
Standing taller than anything else in the English Bridle range, this lamp post is built to mark a gateway or driveway the way a period coach lamp would, its paned frame and clear seeded glass sitting atop a full height post. The English Bridle collection it belongs to takes its cue from the English countryside and the coach lanterns of a traditional stately manor, offered in British Bronze or Black. Behind that very English inspiration sits an American company: Feiss, founded in 1955 by Murray Feiss in a South Bronx workshop, where imported European porcelain figurines were wired into lamp bases and finished with shades his mother Rose sewed by hand. Three generations on, that workshop had grown into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, and since 2012 Elstead Lighting has represented it across the UK and Europe, adapting its designs for 220 to 240V electrical systems.
