An Edwardian style wall fitting that throws its light downward
The Drawing Room downward 2 light wall fitting is built from iron in a traditional Edwardian style, with a pair of pressed glass bowls held in die-cast aluminium fitters and finished with fretwork detailing drawn from British architectural themes of the period. Both bowls are angled to send their light down and outward from the wall, giving a directional wash rather than the even spread of a central ceiling light.
Walnut finish
In Walnut, the ironwork takes on a deep, warm brown that sits well against panelled walls, dark skirting boards and traditional joinery. It reads as a genuinely period piece rather than a modern reproduction, and pairs naturally with brass door furniture, oak furniture and other warm toned metalwork already in the room.
How it works
Each of the two arms takes its own bulb, and neither is included, so you will want to add a pair to your order before it goes up. As with any wall fitting, we would recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation, and because the light is thrown downward, it is worth thinking through exactly where you want it positioned before it is fixed to the wall.
Where it works best
This is a strong choice for hallways, landings and stairwells, where a downward wash of light along the wall is genuinely useful, and it works equally well flanking a fireplace or doorway in a traditional sitting room. It is an indoor fitting throughout, so keep it away from anywhere exposed to the weather.
The story behind Feiss
Three generations of the same family carried Feiss from a single South Bronx workshop into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, covering everything from chandeliers and pendants to wall lights and outdoor fittings. It started in 1955, when founder Murray Feiss built his lamps around imported European porcelain figurines, with shades hand sewn by his mother, Rose. Today that heritage continues under Visual Comfort & Co., and since 2012 Elstead Lighting has adapted the designs, Drawing Room included, for 220 to 240V electrical systems across the UK and Europe. Drawing Room itself channels an Edwardian ironwork tradition, its pressed glass bowls, die-cast fitters and fretwork detailing all rooted in British architectural themes of the period.
