A five arm chandelier with genuine Edwardian character
The Drawing Room 5 light chandelier gathers five arms around a central column, each ending in a pressed glass bowl held by a die-cast aluminium fitter. The overlapping arch shapes in the glass and the fretwork running through the ironwork are both drawn from traditional British architecture, giving the piece a sense of history rather than pastiche.
Walnut finish
The Walnut finish gives the ironwork a rich, dark brown tone that reads as genuinely aged rather than freshly painted, and it works particularly well suspended above a dining table or in a hallway with high ceilings, where the five arms can spread out and be seen properly.
How it works
Five bulbs are needed, one per arm, and none are included, so plan to add five to your order. Given the weight and spread of a five arm chandelier, we would always recommend a qualified electrician for the installation, including checking that the ceiling fixing point is strong enough to take it.
Where it works best
This is a dining room and hallway piece first and foremost, somewhere with the ceiling height to let it hang properly and be appreciated from below. It suits period properties particularly well, though it works equally in a newer build looking to bring in some traditional character. It is for indoor use only.
The story behind Feiss
In 1955, in the South Bronx, Murray Feiss built a lighting business around an unusual idea for the time: imported European porcelain figurines, wired into lamp bases and topped with shades his mother Rose sewed by hand. What he started grew, over three generations, into one of America's best known names in decorative lighting, taking in chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings along the way, and the Feiss design heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting ranges like Drawing Room for 220 to 240V electrics. Drawing Room itself is built on an Edwardian ironwork tradition, its pressed glass bowls, die-cast fitters and fretwork detailing drawing on British architectural themes of the period.
