A statement lantern for a grand entrance
The Cotswold Lane 3 light large wall lantern is the biggest wall mounted fitting in the collection, with three lamps housed behind generous panes of clear bevelled glass. It's built to make more of a statement than the small or medium lanterns, without losing the antique gas lantern character that runs through the whole range.
Black finish with bevelled glass
The black finish suits the larger scale of this fitting, giving it a formal, traditional look against stone, brick or period render, while the clear bevelled glass panels catch the light rather than sitting flat. With three lamps, it produces a stronger glow than the smaller lanterns in the collection.
How it works
This lantern doesn't come with bulbs, so you'll need to add three to your order. Given its size and outdoor location, we'd recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation and makes sure the mounting and cabling are properly weathersealed.
Where it works best
With an IP44 rating, it's suited to covered outdoor spots such as large porches and entrance canopies rather than positions fully exposed to the weather. Its scale and light output make it a natural fit for a grander entrance, either side of double doors, or anywhere the small or medium lanterns would look undersized.
The story behind Feiss
It took three generations for Murray Feiss's small 1955 lighting business, started in the South Bronx around imported European porcelain figurines and shades hand sewn by his mother Rose, to grow into one of America's best known names in decorative lighting, covering chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings alike. That heritage now sits within Visual Comfort & Co, and since 2012 has reached the UK and Europe through Elstead Lighting, who adapt Feiss's designs, this Cotswold Lane wall lantern among them, to 220 to 240V electrics. The collection itself borrows from the antique gas lantern, its architectural moulding set above each pane of bevelled glass giving it a more formal, traditional look than some of Feiss's plainer outdoor ranges.
