A larger chain hung lantern for a grander porch

The Cotswold Lane 3 light large chain lantern is the biggest of the hanging lanterns in the collection, with three lamps giving a stronger light output than the medium chain lantern. Hung from a chain rather than mounted flush or to a wall, it has a traditional, coaching inn feel that suits a more generous porch or entrance.

Black finish with bevelled glass

The black finish carries the same formal character as the rest of the Cotswold Lane range, and the larger panes of clear bevelled glass make more of the sparkle the collection is known for. Its scale and three lamp layout set it apart from the smaller chain and wall lanterns.

How it works

This lantern doesn't come with bulbs, so you'll need to add three to your order. Given its size and outdoor location, we'd recommend a registered NICEIC electrician handles the installation and checks the ceiling fixing and cable entry are properly weathersealed.

Where it works best

With an IP44 rating, it's suited to covered outdoor spots such as larger porches and entrance canopies rather than open positions exposed directly to the weather. It works best where there's enough headroom and scale to suit a bigger hanging fitting, such as over a wide porch or entrance.

The story behind Feiss

Murray Feiss began in the South Bronx in 1955 with little more than imported European porcelain figurines, which he wired into lamp bases and topped with shades his mother Rose hand sewed. From that modest start, the family business went on to become, over three generations, one of America's best known names in decorative lighting, taking in chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings before settling within what is now Visual Comfort & Co. Elstead Lighting has represented the brand in the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting its designs, including this large Cotswold Lane chain lantern, to 220 to 240V wiring. Cotswold Lane's moulded frame and bevelled glass panes nod to the antique gas lanterns of a bygone era, lending it a more formal, traditional character than some of Feiss's plainer outdoor collections.
