The Allier orb at its largest, contemporary scale
The Allier large pendant takes the light oak orb up to its biggest size in the collection, giving it enough presence to anchor a kitchen island or dining table on its own. It's still the same kiln dried, crack resistant timber as the smaller Allier pendants, just with more visual weight.
Light Wood and Brushed Steel finish
At this larger scale, the Light Wood orb's pale grain, opal glass and Brushed Steel fitting read as a genuinely contemporary statement piece rather than a supporting fitting. It suits kitchens and dining spaces built around lighter woods and cooler tones.
How it works
The single lamp position needs its own bulb, which isn't included, so add one to your order before installing. Given its size, we'd recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.
Where it works best
Its suitability for kitchen islands points to this being a natural fit above an island or a longer dining table, where a single larger orb reads better than a run of smaller ones. It's an indoor fitting throughout.
The story behind Feiss
Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe since 2012, adapting the brand's collections, Allier included, for 220 to 240V electrical systems, as part of a design heritage that now sits within Visual Comfort & Co. Three generations of the same family built that heritage, starting in 1955 when Murray Feiss opened a small business in the South Bronx, New York, built around imported European porcelain figurines wired into lamp bases, their shades hand sewn by his mother, Rose. From there it grew into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings. Allier's own name comes from the French forest whose oak is used for wine barrels, that heritage of aged, kiln dried timber translated here into a modern silhouette of wood and metal orbs, this time at its largest scale.
