A close to ceiling take on a monastery inspired classic
The Abbey three light semi flush fitting draws on monastery architecture for its shape, and sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging on a chain, making it a good option for rooms with lower ceilings that still want the collection's classic, transitional look.
Silver sand finish, gold pleated shades
The soft, hand brushed silver sand finish has a muted, slightly textured look rather than a bright polish, and pairs with the gold shades, each gathered into a mushroom pleat for a softer, more traditional edge. Together they suit classic and transitional interiors rather than a stark, modern scheme.
How it works
This semi flush fitting mounts close to the ceiling and does not come with bulbs, so you'll need to add three to your order, one for each light. As with all ceiling fittings, we would recommend a qualified electrician handles the installation.
Where it works best
Sitting close to the ceiling, it is a good choice for hallways, landings and rooms with lower ceiling heights where a hanging chandelier would not sit comfortably. It is an indoor fitting, suited to living, dining and hallway spaces.
The story behind Feiss
In 1955, Murray Feiss set up a small lighting business in New York's South Bronx, importing European porcelain figurines and wiring them into lamp bases, with his mother Rose hand sewing each shade. Three generations of family ownership grew that beginning into one of America's best known decorative lighting names, spanning chandeliers, pendants, wall lights and outdoor fittings, its design heritage now part of Visual Comfort & Co. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has represented Feiss across the UK and Europe, converting the ranges for 220 to 240V systems. Abbey borrows both its name and its shape from monastery architecture, its gold, mushroom pleated shades softening that look in this semi flush form.
