A slimline 2.5 metre light column for driveways and garden paths
The Tram 2500 is a tall, slimline pole lamp designed by Estudi Ribaudi for Faro Barcelona, made to bring a clean, contemporary rhythm of light to gardens, driveways and pathways. It stands 2.5 metres high on a narrow cylindrical column, topped by an illuminated opal diffuser that lets light filter out through 360 degrees. Rather than throwing a beam in one direction, the Tram glows softly all around, marking a route or boundary with an even, glare free light.
The dark grey finish
This version pairs a dark grey aluminium column with a frosted opal PMMA diffuser, an understated urban pairing that reads as quietly architectural by day and lantern like after dark. The muted grey tone sits comfortably against modern render, stone, timber decking and planting alike, making it a versatile choice where a black post would feel too heavy and a paler finish too stark. It is one of several finishes in the Tram family, and the dark grey in particular suits contemporary and minimalist exteriors where you want the light to speak more loudly than the post.
How it works
The Tram 2500 uses an integrated LED light source in a warm white 3000K colour temperature, with the driver supplied as part of the fitting. Because the LED is built in there is no bulb to buy or replace, and the lamp is not dimmable. It is a mains powered, hardwired luminaire on a floor mounted base, so it needs a suitable cable route below ground and a solid fixing point for the base plate. It is a Class 1 earthed fitting. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
As a full height pole lamp, the Tram works beautifully lining a driveway, framing a garden path, or standing beside a terrace, entrance or lawn edge. Its 360 degree output means a run of several posts can wash a route with consistent light, while a single lamp makes an elegant marker near a gate, porch or seating area. It suits both domestic gardens and larger landscaped settings where a modern, uncluttered look is wanted, and the slim profile keeps it discreet by day.
Design and origin
Faro Barcelona is a Spanish lighting company that designs its collections from Castellbisbal, on the edge of Barcelona, with a particular strength in outdoor fittings engineered for weather resistance and integrated LED technology. The Tram is the work of Estudi Ribaudi, whose slotted diffuser detail is what gives the post its distinctive filtered glow.

Questions People Ask
What does the IP55 rating on the Faro Tram 2500 mean?
IP55 means the Faro Tram 2500 is dust protected and shielded against water jets from any direction, so it can stand in a fully exposed garden position through driving rain without needing a porch or canopy.
What does the IK05 rating mean for the Faro Tram 2500?
An IK05 rating means the Faro Tram 2500 can withstand a moderate impact, roughly the level of a firm knock, which suits a garden post that may occasionally be brushed by a mower, a bike or a garden tool.
How bright is the Faro Tram 2500 and what does that suit?
Faro states the Tram 2500 outputs around 3000 lumens from its integrated 43W LED, enough to mark a driveway, path or boundary with a steady, even wash of light rather than a single bright beam.
Can I replace the bulb in the Faro Tram 2500 if it fails?
No. The Faro Tram 2500 has an integrated LED light source built into the fitting, so there is no bulb to buy or swap, and the whole unit is not dimmable.
