A pinpoint spike light that aims exactly where you need it
The Spy 145 is a compact spike mounted spotlight made to pick out the best of a garden after dark. Its slim tubular head sits on a swivel joint above a ground spike, so you press it into a border or lawn and angle the beam exactly where you want it, onto a specimen tree, a run of planting, a piece of sculpture or a stretch of wall. This is a purposeful piece of exterior lighting rather than a decorative lantern, and it does one thing very well: directing warm light with precision.
The dark grey finish
This version wears a dark grey finish over its aluminium body, a muted anthracite tone that settles quietly into planting and hard landscaping and all but disappears in daylight. The 145 is the smaller frame in the Spy spike family, so it suits borders, pots and compact beds where a larger fitting would feel heavy. Paired with its black ground spike and cable, it is designed to be noticed only when it is working.
How it works
Light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or replace over the life of the fitting. Faro rates the lamp at up to 6W, producing around 395 lumens of warm 3000K light for a soft, natural glow rather than a cold beam. The head orientates on its joint to aim and focus the light, and the lamp arrives with roughly two metres of cable ready to connect to an outdoor supply. The body and head are aluminium, with a polycarbonate housing and an opal glass diffuser that spreads the light evenly. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
Spike lighting is at its best in soft ground, so the Spy 145 is a natural choice for garden borders, flower beds and lawns, along path edges and driveways, or tucked among shrubs to uplight a favourite tree. Because the head adjusts, you can reposition the beam as planting grows or the seasons change. It suits anyone wanting discreet, adjustable accent lighting for a terrace, courtyard or planted garden, where the fitting stays in the background and the light does the talking.
Weather resistance
The Spy 145 carries an IP65 rating, which means it is fully protected against dust and against jets of water from any direction. In practice that makes it suitable for open, unsheltered positions in the garden, where it will face wind and rain and everything a British climate brings through the year, rather than needing the cover of a porch or overhang.
About Faro Barcelona
Faro Barcelona began as Lorefar, founded in Barcelona in 1951 by Carlos Lopez Lopez, and today designs its collections from Castellbisbal on the edge of the city. The company acquired the Catalan lighting brand BioscaBotey in 2011. The Spy spike range reflects that outdoor focus, pairing a robust aluminium build with a warm, efficient LED source.

Questions People Ask
How narrow is the beam from the Faro Spy 145 spike light?
The Faro Spy 145 has a narrow 30 degree beam angle, so it throws a focused column of light rather than a broad wash, which suits picking out a single tree or feature.
How long is the cable supplied with the Faro Spy 145 spike light?
The Faro Spy 145 spike light comes with roughly two metres of cable, ready to connect to a suitable outdoor circuit once the spike is positioned.
What does the IK05 rating on the Faro Spy 145 mean?
An IK05 rating means the Faro Spy 145 is built to resist a moderate level of impact, which suits its typical position tucked among planting rather than somewhere it is likely to be struck directly.
Can the Faro Spy 145 spike be repositioned once it is in the ground?
Yes. The head of the Faro Spy 145 swivels on its joint, and because it is a spike fitting rather than a fixed one, the whole light can be lifted and moved as planting grows or changes.
