The Faro Side 390 is a low profile ceiling and wall lamp that turns a simple disc into something worth looking at twice. The black and gold finish

This is the larger 39cm version of the Side in its warmest colourway. The gold here is a brushed, satin tone rather than a bright polish, so it catches light gently and brings a soft glow to the ceiling around it. Paired with the crisp black rim, it feels grounded and considered, closer to jewellery than hardware. Where the copper version of the Side leans coppery and pink, the gold reads warmer and more classic, sitting happily alongside brass taps, oak, deep greens and creamy neutrals. If you have a smaller landing, hallway or nook, the 20cm Side covers the same idea in a more compact size, but the 39cm gives you a generous, room filling presence.

How it works

The Side 390 uses an integrated SMD LED module rated at 15W, producing a warm white 3000K light through the opal diffuser. Because the LED is built in, there is no separate bulb to buy or replace, and nothing is left to chance on colour or spread. The LED runs at a fixed output and is not dimmable, so it is best paired with a standard switch rather than a dimmer. It can be fixed to either a ceiling or a wall, so the same fitting works as a flush ceiling light or a large wall mounted disc. As a mains powered, hardwired fitting, Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

About Faro Barcelona

Faro Barcelona began as Lorefar, a company founded in Barcelona in 1951 by Carlos Lopez Lopez. He built the brand name from his own surname Lopez, his wife's surname Orejudo, and the word faro. Today the company designs its collections from Castellbisbal on the edge of Barcelona, and in 2011 it acquired the Catalan lighting brand BioscaBotey. The Side collection carries that same design led approach into a familiar flush shape with real material character.
