A hidden glow for steps, paths and low walls
The Faro Sedna 140 is a discreet square recessed wall light built for the garden and terrace. Rather than throwing light outwards, it sits flush into the wall and pushes a soft wash downwards from behind an angled internal baffle, so the source itself stays hidden and you see only the glow it casts across the surface below. It is a quietly architectural way to light steps, paths and low level walls after dark.
The dark grey finish
This version wears a textured dark grey powder coat, a deep anthracite tone that reads as almost charcoal against render, brick or stone. The finish is matt and fine grained rather than glossy, which helps the fitting recede into the wall by day and keeps the focus on the light itself by night. The square 140mm face gives it a clean, contemporary outline that suits modern exteriors, and the recessed body means nothing protrudes to catch a shoulder or a passing bag. If you are matching fittings across a scheme, the Sedna family also comes in other sizes and formats, so this square 140 can be paired with its siblings for a consistent look.
How it works
The Sedna 140 uses an integrated LED, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. Faro rates it at 3W with a warm white 3000K colour temperature, and states an output of around 90 lumens, which is pitched for gentle marker and signal lighting rather than broad illumination. It is not dimmable. The body is made from aluminium and polycarbonate, and the fitting is supplied with its flush mount recessing box and driver included, so you have the components needed to sink it neatly into the wall. This is a mains fitting. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
Because the light is directed downwards from a concealed source, the Sedna 140 excels as low level guidance lighting. Set it into a garden wall beside steps, along a terrace edge, near a porch or by a driveway, and it marks the way without glare in the eyes. A run of them down a path or a flight of steps gives a calm, even rhythm of light, and a single unit beside a door or gate makes a subtle welcome. It suits homeowners and designers after a clean, understated exterior scheme where the fittings themselves stay out of sight.
Weather resistance
The Sedna 140 carries an IP65 rating, which means it is fully protected against dust and against low pressure water jets from any direction. In practice that makes it suitable for open, exposed positions where it will take direct rain, not just sheltered or covered spots. Recessed into an exterior wall, it is built to cope with the British weather year round.

Questions People Ask
What size cut out does the Sedna 140 need?
The Sedna 140 requires a wall cut out of 128mm by 112mm, so measure the opening against this before ordering to make sure the fitting will sit flush.
What does the 70 degree beam angle mean for how it lights a path?
A 70 degree beam angle gives the Sedna 140 a reasonably wide spread of downward light, enough to graze a length of wall or step rather than throwing a tight spot, so it works well spaced along a path or terrace edge.
Is the Sedna 140 bright enough to read by, or is it just a marker light?
With Faro stating an output of around 90 lumens, the Sedna 140 is designed as gentle marker and signal lighting rather than a light to read or work by, guiding the eye along steps or a path rather than illuminating a whole area.
What comes in the box with the Sedna 140?
The Sedna 140 is supplied with its flush mount recessing box and driver included, so everything needed to sink the fitting neatly into an exterior wall is provided.
