A sculpted, prow shaped light for sheltered exterior walls

The Faro Proa is an outdoor wall light with a sculptural, prow like profile that gives the collection its name. Its body sweeps up and outward in a single curved line before tapering to a fine edge, so it reads almost like the bow of a boat set against the wall. Light is thrown downward through a clear diffuser on the underside, washing the surface below with a soft, contained glow rather than glare.

The dark grey finish

This version comes in a matt dark grey, a deep anthracite tone that sits quietly against render, brick, timber cladding and stone alike. The muted colour lets the shape do the talking in daylight and all but disappears after dark, leaving just the pool of light it casts. It is a good match for contemporary and pared back exteriors where you want presence without a bright, attention grabbing fitting.

How it works

The Proa is a mains wired, wall mounted fitting that takes a single replaceable GU10 bulb, rated up to 8W. The bulb is not included, which lets you choose the brightness and warmth that suits the setting, and a warm white LED GU10 is an easy, low energy choice. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

With its downward throw of light, the Proa is well suited to flanking a front door, marking an entrance or lining a covered walkway, terrace or porch. Mounted at head height it gently lights the ground below, making it a practical choice for paths and steps as well as a decorative one for facades and garden walls. Rated IP44, it is protected against splashing water from any direction, which makes it ideal for covered and semi sheltered outdoor positions rather than spots that take the full force of driving rain.

The Proa is a Faro Barcelona design by Alex and Manel Lluscá, made from die cast aluminium for a robust, weather ready outdoor fitting. Faro Barcelona designs its collections from Castellbisbal, on the edge of Barcelona, and is known for designing its own collections and engineering its outdoor ranges for exterior use.
