This version wears a matte dark grey, an understated anthracite tone that reads as almost charcoal against pale render and sits comfortably on brick, stone or timber cladding. The body is made of die cast aluminium with a glass diffuser at each opening, a combination Faro Barcelona favours for exterior fittings because it holds its colour and resists corrosion outdoors. The crisp cube shape and neutral grey suit contemporary homes, but the finish is muted enough to settle into more traditional settings too.

How it works

Light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or replace. Faro specifies a total output of 6W drawn from two 3W sources at a warm 3000K colour temperature, giving a comfortable warm white that flatters brickwork and planting rather than washing them cold. The open top and bottom of the cube let you shape the beam into a tighter or broader spread for both functional and decorative light. As a hardwired mains fitting, Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

With its IP65 rating the Olan is built for genuine exposure, so it is at home on open garden walls, house façades, entrances, driveways and along paths and steps where it can double as gentle wayfinding light. Mount a pair either side of a door for symmetry, or run several along a boundary wall for a rhythm of light and shadow. It suits both front of house kerb appeal and quieter courtyards and terraces at the rear.
