The Nahir is a marine inspired outdoor wall light that takes its cues from traditional ship and harbour lanterns. A ribbed glass shade sits inside a protective brass cage, hung from a curved arm and a round wall backplate, with a small turned finial at the top for a finishing touch of period detail. It is a compact, characterful fitting that brings a nautical, heritage feel to an exterior wall.

The brass finish

This version is made from solid brass with a warm golden tone that suits coastal, cottage and period properties particularly well. Brass is a naturally hard wearing material that stands up to demanding environments, and left untreated it will gently mellow and patina over time, giving each lamp a lived in character. Paired with the ribbed clear glass, the brass casts a soft, welcoming glow rather than a harsh beam, making it a natural choice for entrances and doorways.

How it works

The Nahir takes one E27 screw fit bulb rated up to 15W, which is not included so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature that suit your setting. It is not dimmable. The lamp is mains powered and hard wired, so Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

With its IP44 rating the Nahir is protected against splashing water from any direction, which makes it well suited to covered and sheltered outdoor positions such as porches, doorways, entrance walls, garden walls and terraces. It works beautifully flanking a front door in pairs, lighting a path to an outbuilding, or adding a maritime touch to a garden room or boathouse.
