The Faro May is a small circular light with a quietly sculptural presence. A shallow steel backplate holds a domed opal glass diffuser that sits gently proud of the surface, so the fitting reads almost like a smooth pebble of light against the wall. It mounts equally well on a wall or a ceiling, which makes it an easy, understated choice wherever you want a wash of warm illumination without a fixture that shouts for attention. Designed by Faro Lab, May belongs to a family of finishes, and this is the clean white version.

The white finish

Finished in white throughout, the steel body all but disappears into a pale wall or ceiling, leaving the glowing opal dome to do the talking. It is the most versatile option in the range, at home in a minimal, Scandi or contemporary scheme where you want light to feel built in rather than added on. Where the coral, blue, green and black versions make a deliberate colour statement, the white May is the quiet one, happy to sit in multiples down a hallway or flank a mirror in pairs without competing with anything around it.

How it works

May uses an integrated LED rated at 4W, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. The glass diffuser spreads a uniform warm white light at around 2700K, the kind of soft, relaxed tone that suits living spaces and bathrooms alike. It is not a dimmable fitting, so it is best used where you want a consistent, gentle level of light. The lamp is hardwired and made from steel with a glass diffuser. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

Because it carries an IP44 rating, the May is suitable for use in a bathroom as well as in dry rooms, so you can run the same fitting from the hallway through to an en suite for a coherent look.
