A compact downlight that keeps garden walls and steps quietly lit
The Grada 157 is a compact, architectural wall light that does its work quietly. A near square box just 157mm wide, it sits close to the wall and casts its light downward through a recessed lower aperture, grazing the surface below with a soft, controlled wash rather than a bright glare. It is a clean, modern piece designed to mark walls, steps and passageways without drawing attention to the fitting itself.
The dark grey finish
This version wears a textured dark grey finish over an aluminium body, an anthracite tone that reads as understated and contemporary against render, brick, timber cladding and stone alike. The ridged reflector inside the lower opening is finished to match, so the fitting stays visually recessed by day and lets only the light itself stand out after dark. At this small 157mm size it suits tighter runs and lower level positions, where a larger fitting would feel heavy. A warm white opal glass diffuser sits behind the aperture to soften the output.
How it works
Grada 157 uses an integrated SMD LED rated at 3W, producing a warm white 3000K light with its LED driver included in the fitting. As the LED is built in, there is no bulb to buy or replace. It is a hardwired mains fitting running on standard 220 to 240V supply, surface mounted directly to the wall. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
The downward beam makes the Grada 157 a natural choice for lighting steps, garden paths, terraces, patios and outdoor passage areas, and for adding low, even light along an exterior wall or beside a doorway. Its small footprint and warm colour temperature suit modern gardens and courtyards where you want guidance underfoot and gentle atmosphere rather than floodlighting. Mounted in a series it can quietly line a driveway edge or a flight of external steps.

Questions People Ask
What does the IP54 rating on the Grada 157 mean in practice?
IP54 means the Faro Grada 157 is protected against dust ingress and against water splashing onto it from any direction, so it copes well with rain and general weather exposure on an open exterior wall, though it should not be positioned where it will be submerged or hit by a direct jet of water.
Is 86 lumens enough light from the Grada 157?
At around 86 lumens, the Faro Grada 157 is designed to graze a surface with a soft wash of light rather than illuminate a wide area, so it works well for marking steps, path edges or the base of a wall but is not intended as a main source of light for a patio or seating area.
Can the bulb in the Grada 157 be replaced?
No. The Faro Grada 157 has an integrated LED with the driver built in, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace, and the fitting is designed to be installed once and left in place.
Does the Grada 157 need a covered position to be installed?
No. Because it carries an IP54 rating, the Faro Grada 157 is rated for open exterior walls and does not need an overhang or canopy, unlike lower rated indoor fittings.
