A tall architectural column that lights a path on every side
The Bu-Oh 2500 is a tall, slender pole lamp that brings a quiet, architectural line to an outdoor space. Standing around 2.5 metres high, it reads more like a sculpted column than a conventional lamp post, with a narrow square profile and a softly rounded head. Recessed opal diffuser channels run down each face of the top section, so the light glows outward on all four sides rather than casting a single hard beam. It is a considered piece of exterior lighting, designed by Estudi Ribaudi for Faro Barcelona.
The dark grey finish
This version wears a deep, matt dark grey finish across its metal body. It is a colour that settles easily into a garden or a contemporary frontage, holding its own against render, brick, timber and planting without drawing attention to itself in daylight. The opal diffusers sit almost flush within the column, so by day the lamp appears as a clean dark upright, and by night the four glowing strips do the talking. If you are matching a scheme, this dark grey pairs naturally with anthracite window frames, dark ironmongery and modern landscaping.
How it works
Light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. Faro rates the light source at around 30W, giving roughly 2500 lumens of warm 3000K light with a colour rendering index above 80, which keeps planting and paving looking natural after dark. The lamp is a mains powered Class I fitting fixed to the ground through its base, and the light is emitted through the diffuser channels on all four sides for an even, low glare spread. Because it is hardwired into the mains supply, Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
At 2.5 metres, the Bu-Oh 2500 is well suited to marking driveways, framing a front path or lining a route through a larger garden. A pair either side of a gate or entrance gives a welcoming sense of arrival, while a run of them can lead the eye along a terrace edge or towards a door. The four sided glow makes it a good choice where the lamp will be seen and approached from more than one direction, such as an open forecourt or a corner of a patio. It is equally at home in a modern courtyard or softening the edge of a more traditional planted border.
