The Faro Boken is a slim wall mounted reader designed to put a pool of light exactly where you want it, whether that is over the pages of a book in bed or across the arm of a sofa. Its flexible arm curves up from a compact round wall plate to a tapered head, so the beam can be nudged towards your hands rather than spilling across the whole room. It is a quietly practical piece of task lighting, more considered gooseneck than fussy adjustable arm, and it suits people who read at night without wanting to light the entire bedroom.

The black finish

This version wears a soft matt black throughout, from the circular base to the silicone sleeved arm and the small cylindrical head. The uniform dark tone lets the lamp recede against a headboard, a painted feature wall or a shelf of books, reading as a fine graphic line rather than a bulky fixture. It pairs naturally with darker, more layered bedroom schemes and with black or brushed metal accents elsewhere in the room. If your walls are pale or you prefer the fitting to disappear entirely, the Boken is also made in white as a sibling option.

How it works

Light comes from an integrated LED rated at 3W, producing a warm 3000K glow that is easy on the eyes for close reading. The LED is built into the head and is not a replaceable bulb, so there is nothing to buy separately and nothing to change over its life. An on/off switch sits on the wall plate itself, keeping controls within easy reach at the bedside. There is no dimming function; the switch simply turns the light on and off. The flexible arm holds its position once set, letting you aim the beam and leave it. As a hardwired wall light, it connects to your mains supply. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

The Boken is happiest as a bedside reading light, mounted either side of a bed in place of a table lamp to free up the surface below. It works equally well beside a reading chair or over one end of a sofa in a living room, and its compact footprint suits smaller rooms, guest bedrooms and boutique hotel style setups where a directional reading light matters more than ambient brightness. Choose it where you want targeted light for a specific task rather than general room illumination.
