A glowing band of light set into solid cement
The Block 350 is a low outdoor beacon with a quietly sculptural presence. Its body is cast in solid cement and formed as a rounded cylinder, then split on the diagonal so that an offset cap and base frame a glowing band of opal glass. Where most path lights hide their workings, Block turns the light source into the centrepiece, a warm horizontal glow that seems to float between two blocks of raw stone.
This grey cement finish
This version wears a natural grey cement finish with a lightly speckled, aggregate texture that reads as honest and architectural rather than decorative. Cement suits contemporary and pared back schemes especially well, sitting comfortably against render, timber decking, gravel and planting, and weathering gently in the open air. The 350 is the shorter beacon in the Block family, standing low to the ground, which makes it ideal for lining a path or edging a border where a taller post would feel intrusive. If you need more height elsewhere in the same garden, the range extends to a taller Block beacon in the same material.
How it works
Block 350 takes a single E27 screw fit bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the brightness and warmth that suits the setting. Faro lists it for a bulb of up to 15W, and an LED lamp is the natural choice for an outdoor fitting left on through the evening. It is not dimmable. The opal glass diffuser softens the output into an even, glare free band of light. The lamp is designed as a floor or post mounted beacon, and it can also be fixed to a wall if you prefer the same glow at a higher level. As a mains powered fitting, Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
This is a light for gardens, terraces, courtyards and entrances, laid out along a path, at the turn of a driveway, beside steps or among low planting. The centred beam and gentle spread make it decorative as much as functional, marking a route without flooding the space in light. Rated IP65, it is fully weatherproof against rain and dust, so it can stay outdoors year round in an exposed position rather than needing the shelter of a porch or canopy.
Brand and design
Block is part of the outdoor catalogue of Faro Barcelona, the Spanish lighting company, and was designed by Alex and Manel Llusca. Faro develops its collections from its design base near Barcelona, with a particular focus on materials such as cement, glass and aluminium engineered for life outdoors.

Questions People Ask
What is the glowing band on the Faro Block 350 made from?
The glowing band on the Block 350 is an opal glass diffuser set into the cast cement body, which spreads the light from the bulb into an even horizontal strip rather than a single point of glare.
Does the Faro Block 350 come with a bulb?
No. The Block 350 takes a single E27 bulb up to 15W, which is not included, so you can fit an LED lamp of your chosen brightness and colour temperature.
Can the Faro Block 350 be wall mounted instead of used as a post light?
Yes. Although designed as a floor or post mounted beacon, the Block 350 can also be fixed to a wall if you want the same glowing band of light at a higher level.
How heavy is the Faro Block 350?
The Block 350 weighs 6.2kg and stands 35cm tall, a solid cast cement beacon meant to sit low and stable along a path or border.
