A tall column light to define a garden route
The Bast is a tall, slim floor standing beacon that brings quiet, modern light to the ground level of a garden. Its slender cylindrical column rises from the ground to a clean flat cap, with a clear band of diffuser tucked just beneath the top that casts a soft, even glow around its full circumference. It is a restrained, architectural piece designed to mark a route or edge without drawing attention to the fitting itself.
The black finish
This version wears a matt black finish over an aluminium body, so the column reads as a crisp dark vertical against planting, gravel, paving or a rendered wall. The black recedes by day and all but disappears after dark, leaving only the ring of light near the top. It is an easy match for contemporary landscaping and for homes where black window frames, railings or door furniture already set the tone. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser sits neatly within the black head, keeping the look monochrome and understated.
How it works
Bast uses an integrated LED, so there is no separate bulb to buy or replace. It draws 25W and produces a warm white 3000K light, the tone that flatters foliage, brick and stone and keeps an outdoor scheme feeling relaxed rather than clinical. The driver is supplied with the fitting. It runs on a standard 220 to 240V mains supply and is designed to be fixed to a firm base at ground level. As this is a mains powered fitting, Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
This is a path and passage light at heart. Positioned in a run along a garden path, a driveway edge or the approach to a front door, a line of Bast beacons defines the route and makes it safe to walk after dark. It also suits terraces, courtyards, borders and the transitions between different areas of a garden, where its height lifts the light clear of low planting. It is a good choice for anyone wanting a coordinated, contemporary exterior scheme rather than a single decorative statement.
Weather resistance
Bast carries an IP65 rating, which means it is fully protected against dust and against jets of water from any direction. In practice that makes it suitable for completely open, exposed positions where it will take rain and the full weather year round, not just sheltered spots. It is also rated IK10 for impact resistance, a useful quality for a fitting placed at ground level along busy paths and drives.

Questions People Ask
How tall does the Faro Bast beacon stand once installed?
The Faro Bast stands 960mm high with a 160mm diameter column, so it sits well above low planting and edging, lifting its light clear of borders along a path or driveway.
What does the combination of IP65 and IK10 ratings mean for the Faro Bast?
IP65 means the Faro Bast is fully protected against dust and against water jets from any direction, while IK10 is the highest impact resistance rating on the standard scale, so together they suit a fitting standing at ground level along busy paths and drives where it may face both weather and knocks.
Is the Faro Bast bright enough to light a whole garden path by itself?
The Faro Bast produces 2100 lumens from its 25W integrated LED, a meaningfully brighter output than a small accent light, so a single unit can light a good stretch of path, though most gardens use a run of two or more spaced along the route.
Does the light from the Faro Bast shine in one direction or all around?
The Faro Bast has a 360 degree beam, so its clear diffuser band casts light evenly around the full circumference of the column rather than in a single direction, which suits marking a route that can be approached from either side.
