Warm Gold and Amber for Traditional Spaces
This Farnley pendant combines a brass frame with warm amber glass shades, a pairing that creates a distinctly traditional and inviting aesthetic. The brass catches and reflects light naturally, creating warmth without being showy, while the amber glass deepens that warmth further, casting a golden glow across the room. The three graduated tiers step from 40cm to 60cm to 80cm, with 24 G9 lamp holders distributed across them to deliver even, generous light into the space beneath.
Choosing Your Finish
Brass is a living finish, developing patina and character as it ages, which adds to the traditional appeal of this pendant. The warm tone is natural and inviting, quite different from the cooler satin black or polished nickel. Combined with amber glass, the overall effect is distinctly cosier and more period leaning, suiting traditional, eclectic, or transitional room schemes rather than strictly contemporary ones. Other frame and glass combinations are available if this warmth isn't the direction you're heading.
How It Works
The pendant wires to Class I electrical standards, requiring an earth connection. The 24 G9 lamp holders (bulbs not included) are spread across the tiers, providing light that is both substantial and warm. The combination of brass and amber glass means even cool temperature bulbs will read as warm once they pass through. If you use dimmable bulbs with a compatible dimmer, you can adjust the overall intensity. The IP20 rating means it's designed for dry indoor spaces, making it unsuitable for bathrooms or very humid kitchens.
Where It Works Best
This pendant works beautifully in traditional or transitional dining rooms, period properties, or contemporary homes that favour warm metal tones. Above a dining table where you want an inviting, convivial atmosphere, in a generous hallway, or in a living room where warmth and comfort are priorities. The size and weight mean it needs proper ceiling height and structural support, but in the right space it becomes a focal point that actively improves the room's feeling.
Design Details
The Farnley collection is recognised for its proportional approach to layered lighting. Here, the brass frame is both structural and decorative, developing a richer colour over time as the metal ages. The amber glass is warm and forgiving, softening the light in ways that complement the brass rather than competing with it. The overall design philosophy is that three circles, well proportioned and well spaced, create visual calm and balance, with materials that age gracefully rather than needing constant polishing to look their best.

Questions People Ask
Will the brass tarnish?
Yes, naturally. Over time it develops a patina, which adds to the traditional character. If you prefer the bright polished look, you can clean it periodically, but most people find the aged appearance more interesting.
Is this very warm coloured light?
Yes. The combination of brass and amber glass means the light is quite warm and golden. If you're drawn to cool white light, the clear glass version with brass might be a better fit.
Will this work in a modern home?
It depends on the style. If your modern home is warm toned or eclectic, yes. If it's strictly minimalist and cool, probably not. The brass and amber combination is fairly traditional in feel.
