How It Works

What's the difference between an uplighter and a downlighter?
An uplighter throws light up toward the ceiling, which means the ceiling becomes the light source and you get a softer, more diffused illumination. A downlighter throws light down directly, which is usually brighter and more focused. Uplighters feel warmer and more ambient.

Will this give me enough light to read by?
It can, depending on your ceiling colour and height, but it's not a task light. It's designed for ambient, mood lighting rather than detailed work. If you need bright task lighting, a downlighter would be better.
