Soft Light Through Opal Glass Pumpkin
This large pumpkin pendant filters light through opal coloured glass, so the bulb inside stays hidden and the light emerges soft and evenly distributed. The aged pewter frame has quiet authority without any shine, and the size of the 30cm shade means it makes a statement in its proportions alone. It's a fitting for people who want presence without gloss.
Choosing Your Finish
Aged pewter is a muted grey tone with substance, sitting visually between silver and darker finishes. The opal glass adds warmth, diffusing light in a way that feels naturally comfortable. This pairing is available elsewhere in the Springfield range, so you can create consistency if you're using multiple fittings across a space.
How It Works
It's wired for a single E27 bulb rated to 60W maximum, using Class II electrical standards so no earth connection is required. Dimmable bulbs paired with a compatible dimmer let you adjust brightness. The opal glass means the light output is softer than through clear glass, even at full brightness. IP20 rating applies, making it suitable only for dry indoor spaces.
Where It Works Best
The opal diffusion makes this excellent for dining rooms where you want good light without glare or harsh shadows. It works in kitchens above islands where the soft light creates an inviting atmosphere. Hallways benefit from its generous size and distributed light, and living rooms appreciate the combination of visual presence and gentle illumination.
Design Details
The pumpkin shape is proportioned so it reads well at a distance, neither too tall nor too squat. Opal glass is sophisticated because it filters light rather than just blocking it, the ribbed texture on the inside adds subtle visual complexity, and the aged pewter frame steps back to let the shape take the lead. The overall effect is grown up and assured.

Questions People Ask
How does opal differ from clear or champagne glass?
Opal is more opaque and diffuses light completely, so you never see the bulb filament. Champagne is translucent and tints the light golden. Clear shows everything. Choose opal if you want seamless light distribution.
Is this too big for a small dining table?
A 30cm diameter is substantial, but above a small dining table it reads as intentional rather than too large. Test the proportions visually before committing.
Why this instead of the clear pumpkin?
The opal makes the light feel softer and more natural, particularly in the evening. Clear glass lets you see into the mechanism, which some people prefer for visual interest but others find less refined.
