A single E27 GLS lamp holder sits inside the lantern housing, taking bulbs up to 20W (bulbs not included). The housing itself is the safety feature here: the walls of the lantern shelter the bulb from direct exposure to water and dust, keeping the electrical components protected. The fitting is dimmable when used with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. It's wired to Class I electrical standards, requiring an earth connection. The IP65 rating means it's fully protected against water jets from any direction and dust ingress, making it safe for use on exposed outdoor walls as well as in bathroom zones 1 and 2.

Where It Works Best

Outdoors, this lamp works either side of a front door, along a porch, or lighting garden paths and patio walls. Inside, the IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, as long as it isn't mounted directly inside a shower enclosure itself. Can I really use this in a bathroom?
Yes, the IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, which covers most wall positions in a shower room. It isn't suitable for being mounted directly inside the shower enclosure itself, but works well on adjacent walls or above a vanity unit.

What's the difference between IP65 and IP44?
IP65 offers more protection: it's resistant to water jets projected from any angle and completely dust proof. IP44 protects against splashing water. Both are suitable for bathrooms, but IP65 is more robust for outdoor use or very wet environments.

What maintenance does it need?
The aluminium develops a natural patina over time outdoors, and the acrylic panels stay clear. Occasional gentle cleaning with soapy water keeps it looking fresh. It's designed to weather well with minimal fuss.
