Gentle Warmth Through Smoked Glass
Satin gold and smoked glass combine to create a fitting that's softer and more atmospheric than crystal clear alternatives. The smoked glass filters light subtly, creating a moody ambient effect rather than bright task lighting. The satin gold finish has just enough warmth to complement the grey smoke of the glass, making them feel like natural partners rather than a forced contrast.
Choosing Your Finish
Satin gold occupies a middle ground between the coolness of nickel and the richness of antique brass. It's warm without being heavy, and contemporary without being cold. Paired with smoked glass, which has a grey transparent quality, the combination creates a sophisticated atmosphere. The glass filters light in a way that softens shadows and creates a more forgiving ambient light.
How It Works
Two E27 bulb holders are housed within the rounded smoked glass shade, each rated for bulbs up to 20W. It's wired to Class I electrical standards, requiring an earth connection. The IP20 rating means it's for dry indoor use only and shouldn't be exposed to moisture or humidity.
Where It Works Best
The combination of satin gold and smoked glass makes this fitting particularly suited to living rooms and dining areas where atmosphere matters. It works well in bedrooms seeking a sophisticated but not cold aesthetic. In kitchens, the smoked glass prevents it from becoming too bright, making it suitable as part of a layered lighting scheme. At 24cm tall, it suits rooms with standard ceiling heights.
Design Details
The smoked glass is what sets this version apart from other Mansfield variants. Rather than being clear or patterned, it has a translucent grey quality that allows you to see the light source inside but filters the brightness. Combined with the warm satin gold metal, the effect is more sophisticated than either element alone. Iron and acrylic form the frame, with the glass providing both diffusion and colour.

Questions People Ask
Will smoked glass make the room too dark?
No. While smoked glass does filter light, it's still transparent and allows plenty of brightness through. With two 20W bulbs, you have sufficient output for ambient lighting in most rooms.
How does the smoked glass affect colour rendering?
It softens and slightly warms the light, which is particularly flattering in living and dining spaces. It's less suitable for kitchens where you need accurate colour rendering for cooking.
Does this fitting come with bulbs?
No, this fixture takes two E27 bulbs which are sold separately.
