Is this really an eight light fitting or marketing speak?
It really is eight. Eight individual E27 sockets, so eight individual bulbs, so genuinely 160W of light output if you use 20W bulbs throughout.

What's the difference between antique brass and regular brass?
Antique brass has been treated or artificially aged to look like brass that's been around for decades, with a deeper, warmer patina. It coordinates better with period properties and traditional interiors than bright polished brass would.

Do I have to hang this as a pendant, or can I put it flush to the ceiling?
You can do either, depending on your ceiling height and the look you want. As a pendant it makes a dramatic statement, but if your ceiling is lower than 2.5m, the semi flush option brings it up closer to the ceiling while still delivering plenty of light.
