What's the difference between semi flush and pendant?
The mounting system allows you to hang this fitting at different distances from the ceiling. As a pendant it drops further, ideal for standard ceiling heights. Semi flush brings it closer to the ceiling, useful if your room has a lower ceiling or you want ambient lighting without a focal drop.

Do all five bulbs have to be on at once?
The standard installation means they're on the same circuit, so yes. If you want individual control over sections of the fitting, you'd need a specialist electrician to rewire it, which falls outside standard installation.

How much light does this produce?
With five 20W bulbs, that's 100W total, which is more than enough for a dining table for six or eight, or to provide general ambient light across an open plan space. The frosted glass softens the output, so it won't feel harsh.
