Fabula Epsom E27 Table Lamp with Satin Shade - Polished Nickel & Taupe Wood

A Glossy Satin Drum With Real Depth of Colour

This E27 table lamp with a satin shade is all about the sheen. The smooth drum has a lustrous, silky finish that picks up a gradient of light and dark across the surface, even in the product photos. Underneath, taupe wood slats lean around a slim polished nickel stem, finishing on a round nickel foot. The lamp is 69cm tall with a 40cm wide shade, so it has real presence on a table.

Choosing Your Shade

There are two satin shades. Slate looks very deep in our photos, a dark plum brown that is close to black at the edges, so it is not the pale grey the name might suggest. Stone is a warm copper brown with a glossy finish that brightens towards the middle. Both are rich, dramatic colours rather than pale neutrals, so go by the photos when you choose. The polished nickel base gives a bright, cool contrast to either one. The shade is supplied with the lamp. Epsom also has a satin black and dark grey wood base, and linen, faux silk, translucent, two tone velvet and velvet shades.

Shade Options and Specifications

How It Works

The lamp has one E27 lamp holder. According to the listing it can be dimmed using a suitable dimmable E27 lamp and a dimmer. There is an inline switch for on and off. This is a Class II fitting rated IP20, so it is made for indoor use.

Where It Works Best

The listing suggests the living room, bedroom and office. A satin drum in a deep colour suits a formal, evening room, such as a lounge with dark walls or a study with a leather chair. It works well in a bedroom where you want a warm, low light and a glossy touch of luxury. On a sideboard, the nickel base and glossy shade give a smart, polished look.

Questions People Ask

What colours are the Slate and Stone satin shades?
In our photos Slate is a very dark plum brown and Stone is a warm copper brown, both with a glossy satin sheen. They are deep colours rather than pale ones.

How does a satin shade affect the light?
The smooth satin fabric spreads the light from the E27 lamp and gives a warm glow, and a darker shade makes the light feel more subdued than a pale one.

Is this satin shade lamp dimmable?
Yes, with a suitable dimmable E27 lamp and a dimmer. The inline switch only turns it on and off.

How big is the shade and the lamp?
The drum shade is 40cm across and 22cm deep, and the whole lamp is 69cm tall. The round nickel base is 18cm across.
