Fabula Epsom E27 Table Lamp with Faux Silk Shade - Satin Black & Dark Grey Wood

Smoky Wood and Satin Black Beneath a Pale or Dark Silk Drum

With its dark grey wood slats and satin black metal, this E27 table lamp with a faux silk shade has a quiet, moody look. It stands 69cm tall with a 40cm wide shade, so give it room. The slats lean in around a slim black stem and meet angular black brackets above a round, flat base. In our photos the wood looks deep and smoky, with the grain still showing, and the faux silk drum on top has a fine, smooth finish.

Choosing Your Shade

Six shade colours are on offer. Black makes a bold, solid look against the dark base, while Chocolate is a rich brown that sits close to the wood tones. Ivory and Porcelain lift the whole lamp, with Ivory a warm cream and Porcelain a brighter white. Lunar is a soft grey that looks slightly mauve in our photo, and Pebble is a warm, peachy taupe. A pale shade on a dark base gives the sharpest contrast, which is a good choice if the room is mostly light. The shade is supplied with the lamp. The same design is also made with a polished nickel and taupe wood base.

Shade Options and Specifications

How It Works

There is one E27 lamp holder. According to the listing you can dim the lamp with a suitable dimmable E27 lamp and a dimmer. An inline switch handles ordinary on and off. This is a Class II fitting rated IP20, which means it is meant for indoor rooms.

Where It Works Best

The living room, bedroom and office are listed for this lamp. The dark base looks at home on a pale painted bedside table or a light oak sideboard, where it gives the surface a firm anchor. In an office it brings a more grown up feel than a plain desk lamp. A lamp this size also suits the end of a sofa, where the fabric shade gives gentle, even light for reading.

Questions People Ask

Which shade looks best on the satin black base?
It comes down to taste. Pale shades such as Ivory and Porcelain give a strong contrast with the dark base, while Black and Chocolate make a deeper, more unified look.

Is the base black all over?
The metal parts are satin black. The slats are dark grey wood, which looks deep and smoky in our photos, so the base is dark but not a single flat colour.

What bulb does this lamp take?
It takes one E27 lamp. The listing says dimming needs a suitable dimmable lamp and a dimmer.

Will it fit on a bedside table?
The lamp is 69cm tall with a 40cm wide shade on a round base 18cm across, so the table needs to be large enough to carry it. Measure before you order.

Does the faux silk shade show the bulb through it?
The fabric diffuses the light, so you see an even glow across the shade rather than the bulb itself. A paler shade will look brighter than a dark one.
