The Twist floor lamp pairs a rope twist stem in an oak effect finish with the ZigZag shade, a 40cm pleated fabric shade printed in a green ikat chevron. Taken together it stands 160cm tall. The stem has the look of turned timber but is cast in resin, so it is light on the eye and the price of a wooden lamp without the weight of one. The shade is the star, a lively mix of sage green, olive and off white zigzags that reads as a crisp pattern from across the room and softens up close.

Oak Effect Resin And Hand Pleated Faux Silk

The base and stem are moulded resin with a brushed oak effect finish, grained and shaded to look like pale wood. A round stepped base keeps the lamp planted. The ZigZag shade is made by hand, gathered and pleated into a tapered empire shape, with a taped edge top and bottom and a plain inner lining that bounces the light back down. The fabric is a digitally printed faux silk that Endon calls Cotswold green, a soft mid green with gold olive and white in the chevron. Because the shade is hand pleated, the pattern falls a little differently on each one.

How It Works

This is a freestanding plug in floor lamp, so there is no wiring to do. It takes one E27 screw cap LED bulb up to 10W, and the bulb is not included. It is not dimmable. An inline foot switch sits on the natural coloured braided cable, which runs to 2 metres in total, so you can switch it on and off with a toe. The stem comes in two parts that fit together, with the shade sitting on top of the lampholder. The lamp is supplied with a European two pin plug and a UK three pin adapter, so it plugs straight into a UK socket.

Where It Works Best

At 160cm the Twist is a good height beside a sofa or a reading chair, where the 40cm shade throws light down over your book and up onto the wall.
