Endon Arlo Floor Lamp - Matt Black & Avalon 52cm Natural Linen Shade

A Slender Matt Black Floor Lamp With A Natural Linen Coolie Shade

The Arlo floor lamp pairs a thin matt black stem with the Avalon shade, a wide 52cm coolie in a natural linen tone. Together they stand 160.5cm tall, so this is a full height lamp with a broad shade, and it is worth checking the space beside your chair before you order. The look is quiet and understated, a dark line against a pale shade, which is why it slots into so many different rooms.

Matt Black Steel With A Faux Linen Fabric Shade

The stem and round base are made from steel, powder finished in matt black with a soft, low sheen. The Avalon shade is a tapered coolie made from a natural coloured faux linen fabric, with the gentle flecked texture of real linen but easier to keep clean. When the lamp is on, the fabric diffuses the light into a soft glow, and the open bottom of the shade throws a warmer pool of light downwards.

How It Works

This is a plug in floor lamp, so there is no wiring to do. It takes one E27 screw cap LED bulb, which is not included, and it is not dimmable. The 2 metre black braided cable has an inline foot switch, so you can tap it on and off with your foot rather than reaching under the shade. The stem comes in three parts that fit together, and the shade sits on top. The lamp is supplied with a European two pin plug and a UK three pin adapter, so it is ready to use in the UK.

Where It Works Best

A black floor lamp with a linen shade is an easy fit for a living room, standing next to a sofa or an armchair where the wide shade gives a good spread of reading light. It also works at the side of a bed or in a home office corner. The pale shade keeps it light and calm, so it suits neutral, Scandinavian and soft modern schemes with cream, oatmeal and pale wood.
