A drum shade cut from diamonds

Look closely at Ziggy's outer shade and it is really a grid of diamond shapes cut out of steel, wrapped around a plain glass drum. Flat to the ceiling but full of detail up close, it is the kind of fitting that keeps giving you something new to notice.

Lacquered silver

Here the cut steel cage comes in a cool lacquered silver, closer to brushed chrome than pewter, with the opal glass drum glowing white underneath. It sits comfortably next to chrome switches, mirrors and darker wood tones alike.

How it works

Two E27 bulbs light the glass drum from within, spreading a soft, even wash rather than a hard point of light, while the silver trellis outside adds its own layer of pattern and shadow. Pick dimmable bulbs if you want to soften the room for evenings.

Where it works best

Compact at 22.9cm high and 40.6cm wide, it is a good option for rooms where a pendant would sit too low, think bedrooms, hallways and landings, or a dining room where you want light spread across the table rather than dropped from one point.
