Ziggy takes the plain flush ceiling light and gives it a proper pattern to work with. A drum shaped cage of interlocking diamonds wraps around a softly glowing opal glass shade, so instead of one flat circle of light on the ceiling you get a whole geometric print thrown across the room. It sits close and neat overhead, but it is far from a plain box.

Lacquered gold

This version is finished in a bright lacquered gold that runs the length of every cut edge in the lattice, so the pattern reads clearly even before the bulbs go on. Once lit, the opal glass drum glows through the gaps and throws a secondary trellis of light and shadow up and across the ceiling, giving the fitting an Art Deco edge that a plain fabric shade cannot match.

How It Works

Two E27 LED lamp holders sit inside the opal glass drum, spreading the light evenly around the shade rather than as two separate points. The glass diffuses the glow before it reaches the gold trellis outside, so what escapes through the cutouts is soft rather than glaring. Fit dimmable LED bulbs and Ziggy will dim on a compatible switch; the bulbs themselves are not included.

Where It Works Best

At just 22.9cm deep, Ziggy sits close enough to the ceiling to suit rooms where a pendant would hang too low, think a bedroom with a lower ceiling, a landing, or a hallway where headroom is tight. Its 40.6cm width also gives it enough presence to hold its own as the main light in a dining room or living room, spreading light wide rather than pooling it in one spot.

Ziggy comes from Elstead Lighting, a British lighting group whose history traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which remains led by the Lucas family today. What bulbs does the Ziggy flush light take? It takes two E27 LED bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to fit your own before it can be used.

Is the Ziggy flush light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E27 bulbs. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch even on a compatible circuit.

Will Ziggy fit a low ceiling? Yes. At 22.9cm deep it sits close to the ceiling as a true flush fitting, making it a good option for rooms where a pendant would hang too far down.
