Elstead Winchfield 2 Light Medium Picture Light - Polished Nickel & White Marble Effect

A picture light that looks carved, not cast

The shade on this version is finished to look like veined white marble, wrapped around the same curved steel form as the rest of the Winchfield range, with the arm and fittings in polished nickel. It is a fair bit dressier than the plainer brass or black finishes, closer to something you would expect on a hallway console than a strictly practical wall fitting.

The finish

The marble effect on the shade and backplate has genuine looking veining rather than a flat print, and it is paired with bright polished nickel arms and joints, which keeps the whole thing feeling crisp rather than heavy.

How it works

Two lamps sit inside the shade, angled to throw light forward and down over whatever is mounted beneath. The arm hinges both at the wall bracket and where it joins the shade, so the light can be tilted to suit the artwork after it is fixed to the wall.

Where it works best

It is a natural fit above a large mirror, a statement print or a piece of art in a room already leaning towards marble, glass or polished metal accents. The light tone of the shade also means it reads well against pale or white walls, where a dark shade might otherwise stand out too much.
