A taller lantern for a wider porch

The Winchester 400mm wall lantern is the larger of two wall lights in the range, built around the same lantern head as the 335mm version but carried on a more elaborate double scroll bracket, with a second curl looping back toward the wall plate. The extra height and ironwork give it more presence on a bigger wall or either side of a substantial front door.

Black die cast finish

It is cast in black die cast aluminium from the roof down to the wall plate, with cross barred glass panels that diffuse the bulb rather than leaving it exposed. The glass has a slightly textured, rippled finish, so the light that comes through it is softened rather than a hard, direct glare.

How It Works

One E27 lamp holder sits inside the lantern head, angled to throw light downward and outward from the bracket. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs a genuine earth connection, so have it wired in by a qualified electrician. Fit a dimmable bulb and it will work on a dimmer switch; a standard bulb will not respond to one.

Where It Works Best

At around 40cm high with a 31cm projection from the wall, this is the size to reach for on a wider porch, a garage wall, or either side of a substantial front door, and it works equally well fixed to brick, render or stone.
