Elstead Tiber Single Pendant - Polished Nickel

A pendant that lets the light through

The Tiber Single Pendant pairs a hand blown, gently twisted glass shade with polished nickel fittings, left completely clear so the E27 lamp inside sits in full view. Rather than diffusing the light, the shade's soft ripples catch and bend it, so the fixture reads as much like a piece of glassware as a light source.

The ceiling rose and lamp holder are finished in polished nickel, a cooler, brighter metal than the brass used elsewhere in the Tiber range. A fine twisted flex in grey runs from the rose down to the shade, echoing the twist blown into the glass itself. With no tint or pattern to the glass, the finish stays crisp and understated rather than ornate.

How It Works

A single E27 lamp fits inside the shade on a nickel lamp holder that stays visible through the clear glass rather than hidden away. The lamp itself is not included, and we recommend a dimmable LED so the pendant can be used on a dimmer switch, since a standard non dimmable LED will not respond to one. The flex can be set at installation anywhere from around 33.7cm to 219.2cm below the ceiling rose, so the drop can be adjusted to suit the room.

Where It Works Best

Its small footprint and see through shade make it a good fit for kitchens and dining rooms, whether hung on its own above a breakfast bar or repeated in a row along a run of ceiling above a dining table. Because the glass carries no colour, the light it gives out stays clean and neutral rather than warmed or tinted.

Tiber is part of the Elstead Lighting collection, a British lighting brand whose history traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which remains led by the same Lucas family today. Does the Tiber Single Pendant come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 lamp, and we recommend a dimmable LED, but it is not included.
