A shape built for shadow, not shine

The Provence wall light works the same trick in every finish: a curved gooseneck arm lifting a plain cone shaped shade up and out from the wall. In old bronze, that trick turns almost architectural. The finish sits so close to black that the fitting reads as a solid silhouette by day, then opens into a warm pool of light once the bulb goes on.

Old bronze on the Provence is deep and matte across the arm, backplate and outer shade, with just enough sheen in the metal to pick out the curve of the neck and the ring at the rim. Turn the shade to face you and the inside tells a different story: a warmer, golden lining that throws light forward rather than swallowing it, so the glow reads bright even against such a dark exterior.

How It Works

A round wall plate carries a single gooseneck arm that curves up, over and down into a cone shaped shade, held in place by two knurled screws either side of the lamp holder. It takes one E27 bulb, not included, and is wired directly into the wall rather than plugged in, so it is fixed lighting for a professional to install. Fit a dimmable bulb and it will work on a dimmer circuit; a standard bulb will not dim even on one.

Where It Works Best

The dark finish needs a plain or pale wall behind it to really register, which is where this fitting earns its keep. Hang a pair either side of a bed, either side of a mirror above a console, or flanking a fireplace, and the gooseneck shape reads as a considered detail rather than an afterthought. It also works well spaced at intervals along a hallway or staircase wall, where a run of identical fittings does a lot of the visual work.

Does the Provence wall light come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the tone and brightness that suits the room.

Is the Provence wall light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable E27 bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not dim even on a dimmer switch circuit.

Do I need an electrician to install this wall light? Yes. It is wired directly into the wall rather than plugged in, so we recommend a qualified electrician fits it.
