The Provence table lamp takes its cue from old drafting studios rather than French salons: a jointed steel arm that swings and tilts, topped with a simple angled cone shade. It looks equally at home tucked beside a stack of books or angled over a desk where the light actually needs to move.

The finish

This one comes in polished nickel, a bright, mirror like plate that catches the light along every straight run of the arm and the little knuckle joints where it bends. It reads clean and cool rather than warm, so it suits rooms already leaning silver, chrome or glass.

How it works

Two arm sections pivot on knuckle joints, so the shade can be lowered close to a page or swung up and out of the way. It takes a single E27 bulb and sits on a weighted circular base, plugging in like any standard table lamp rather than needing anything hardwired.

Where it works best

Put it on a desk, a console table or a nightstand where you want directional light rather than a general glow. The reach of the arm means one lamp can cover more ground than a fixed shade would, useful for reading in bed or working late at a desk.
