Provence is a proper task lamp rather than a simple bedside piece, with two jointed brass arms and a swivelling cone shade that let you bring light close to a page or throw it wide across a whole desk, then fold away out of sight when you are done.

Finished in aged brass

The shade, both arms, the elbow joints and the weighted base are all finished in the same warm aged brass, with enough natural variation across the surface that no two lamps look machine identical. It sits happily against wood, leather and paper rather than reading as a cold, modern metal.

How it works

Two arms pivot, one at the base and one at the elbow, while the cone shade itself tilts on its own joint, so you can angle the beam down onto paperwork, straight ahead across a keyboard, or up and out of the way entirely. It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which is not supplied, and dims only if you fit a dimmable one.

Where it works best

With the arm extended it stands around 660mm tall and reaches about 472mm out from the base, so it suits a desk, side table or workbench where you want a focused pool of light rather than a soft ambient glow. It's equally at home lighting close work at a home office desk as it is beside an armchair for reading.

Does the Provence table lamp come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits your desk.

Is the Provence table lamp dimmable? Yes, but only if you fit a dimmable E27 LED bulb. Fitted with a standard, non dimmable bulb, it won't dim even on a dimmer circuit.

Can the arm and shade be adjusted? Yes. The arm has two pivot points, at the base and at the elbow, and the cone shade tilts on its own joint, so you can angle light down onto a page or across a wider work surface.
