Mirror bright over a worktop
Some pendants are meant to hide. This one is meant to be seen: a polished nickel cone shade, bright enough to throw back reflections of the room around it, hung from a single length of braided flex on a neat ceiling rose.
The finish
Polished nickel has a mirror sheen rather than the softer look of a brushed metal, so it picks up whatever colour surrounds it, taps, cabinetry, walls, and reflects it back rather than absorbing it.
How it works
The cone shade hangs at an adjustable drop from a compact ceiling rose and aims its light straight down, so it suits close task lighting over a surface rather than filling a whole room. Fit it with a dimmable bulb if you want to soften the light in the evening.
Where it works best
Above a kitchen island, in a run of two or three over a breakfast bar, or on its own over a small dining table. It is a light that wants to be looked at as much as looked under.

How low does the Provence pendant hang? The cord is adjustable from a minimum drop of 28cm up to a maximum of 200cm, measured from the ceiling rose to the base of the shade, so it can be set to sit close over a worktop or dropped lower over a table.
Does the Provence pendant come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 lamp holder and suits an LED bulb, but no bulb is included, so choose a dimmable one if you want it to work with a dimmer switch.
Is the Provence pendant dimmable? Yes, as long as it's fitted with a dimmable bulb. A non dimmable bulb will not respond to a dimmer switch even on a dimmable circuit.
How big is the cone shade? The mild steel shade measures 37.6cm across and 16cm deep, sized for close task lighting over an island or table rather than lighting a whole room.
